Dangers of Asbestos Exposure

The dangers of exposure to asbestos particles are widely known and scientifically researched and proven. The fine particles created by crumbling asbestos particles can create a potential hazard to the respiratory system of humans. It is the fine nature of the asbestos powder that poses a great threat. The asbestos dust can enter the respiratory system easily, even with a filter or respiratory protection, the dust can still make it through. Asbestos powder is very fine, even finer than many spores and pollen. The increased use of asbestos during the 1950’s and 60’s has seen an alarming number of respiratory cancer cases in that time. Even today there are still cases reported to be caused by asbestos. That is because the substance can still be found in older homes. Homeowners should remedy this threat immediately. Some air ducts found in homes have also been known to cause asbestos poisoning in the lungs.
